About DawnSociety

How We Got Here

DawnSociety actually began as another site called MechSociety back in the summer of 2008. Our plan then was to serve as a fansite and community hub for the game known at the time as MechScape. Of course, MechScape didn't pan out and the website sat idle for about a year, waiting for news from Jagex concerning both MechScape and their rumored new project, Stellar Dawn.

The Old MechSociety WebsiteThis is actually revision 3 of MechSociety.

Fast forward to July 14th. Jagex releases the official website for Stellar Dawn with much fanfare and suprise. We immedietly began working on turning MechSociety into DawnSociety. It all started with an old version 4 design that was lying around, and on the night of July 15th, it was turned into what you see before you now. The turnaround time of the design itself was quite fast. We then spent the next week dicing up the design and coding the website, using our own CMS. Our content system is entirely our own creation (mostly Marty's!), allowing us to easily add new content operations to our website, a la our RuneScape quests section on Gaming Heavens. In fact, a lot of the DawnSociety backend stuff is derived from Gaming Heavens, with many additions we made specifically for DawnSociety.

It's now July 22nd. We have created a website [mostly] from scratch. Not an easy feat itself, considering how busy we all tend to be. The site will continue to improve and we are fully prepared to add the systems needed to support the Stellar Dawn community. Content databases, walkthroughs, skills guides, etc. We just are waiting for more details from the Stellar Dawn team concerning gameplay elements before we fully commit to developing such systems.

Who Runs this Thing

The following are the people who helped build, and currently maintain, DawnSociety. We'd also like to bring recognition to the Gaming Heavens staff, as well.
